Liebe Barbara, liebe Shireen!
Hi Shireen and Barbara,
As you know we have just returned from our stay with you at your beautiful hotel mockingbird hill. We wanted to take a few moments out and thank you for helping us enjoy our Jamaica vacation.
As you know the birding was very important to me and I not disappointed...hats of to Ryan for the superb job that he did. He is a very nice considerate young man who has a great deal of talent. He related very well to all 3 generations of our family and I managed to see all the endemics.
The drivers were excellent. Without exception, Reuben, Austin, Lorenzo, and Wayne himself provided us with a very high level of service. Reuben was especially noteworthy for the interest he took with my birding fascination and Austin showed considerable expertise when it came to negotiating the Blue Mountain road.
We found the staff at your hotel very accommodating with Opal and Clyve most noteworthy. We certainly appreciated being on a first name basis with them as they are real assets to your hotel and the stay of any guest. We thought the itinerary showed considerable depth and variety and remain very appreciative for your efforts in this regard.
You are very knowledgeable and connected with your community. The birding opportunities where well thought out and mixed well with the cultural exchange. Our tummies are still full from all the wonderful food (in fact my mother is craving a recipe for your chicken curry). I don't imagine we will ever be able to drink coffee in the future without a brief remembrance of out time with the Wyman's.
The chicken foot soup at the Maroons, though very tasty, will probably provide a few chuckles or two in the future. The rousing church service won't be easily forgotten. Orchids may often remind us of Greencastle. We created a lot of lifelong memories.

I was looking around for a place to spend a week in a quiet peaceful, secluded ,relaxing ,atmosphere surrounded by the natural beauty of the environment. I also wanted a comfortable enviroment in which to live for that time. I am also a vegan and my diet is an important part of my life and my spirituality . It looked like a tall order and I wondered wether I could find all this in Jamaica.
I am delighted to say that I found all of this AND MORE. Hotel Mockingbird can be described as a a Jewel in the the Lush countryside of Port Antonio. The rooms are fresh clean and the colours of blue and white are so relaxing. The owners are committed to caring for the environment and all the furnitures are made with natural bamboo.
The gardens around are beautifully planted with colourful shrubs and birds abound in the tree and will also greet you at breakfast on the porch. The views from the porch both day and night are breathtakingly beautiful and peaceful. I was able to meditate, reflect, pray, heal and read.
The food is all locally grown and the meals were delightful and imaginative in my case being a vegan. I loved breakfast which included a healthy platter of fresh local fruit fresh fruit juice and if that is not enough for you there is a good selection of cooked breakfast.
The staff are friendly again all locally employed people well trained to provide excellent servic. I was delighted to be around these people friendly courteous and alway smiling.
My time spent here was a dream come true. I have great pleasure in reccomending this hotel, the proprietors are people with a vision for the future of tourism and also recognise that one must put back in some of what is taken out that way there is balance and the universe is happy.

We have just returned from a wonderful extended weekend at the Hotel
Mockingbird Hill Just on the outskirts of Port Antonio, Jamaica. This
small (10 rooms) hotel is nestled in the hillside and has wonderful
views. The
surrounding gardens are rich with flora and fauna. Our primary reason
for
booking a room there was for birding and we were not disappointed.
The
flowering trees surrounding the pool were dripping with hummingbirds.
The
rooms were quaint and spotless. The food was of gourmet quality. While
there the hotel arranged for several birding excursions for us and
a trip to a
local school at our request. Other couples we spoke with went rafting
or
went to the beach. We found the staff to be very friendly and attentive.
The size of the hotel allows for personal touches that are impossible
at a
larger hotel (such as remembering our names). If you are looking for
a
place to party then this definitely is not the place. If, however,
you are
looking for a romantic get away don't miss the Hotel Mockingbird.
A fantastic place to rejuvenate the soul and the spirit. Lovely staff,
peace and serenity

Thank you for a most special stay – it has been a wonderful and
unique experience and we wish we could stay here for the rest of our
holiday! The “hotel” feels like a tranquil home –
the personal attention and conversations meant a lot – the food
was heavenly. We feel like we experienced a slice of “real”
Jamaica – and what you have created here is a true inspiration
to us

Thank you for a great stay. Your efforts to preserve the environment
are refreshing and the world would be a more beautiful and healthier
place if all operators had your views.
Thanks again,

Your hotel is so lovely and peaceful. Thank you for taking the effort
to provide a green haven away from our home in DC. Your staff is very
kind as well.
Until next time,

There are certain places in the world where you feel the energy that
you can understand. This was that place. Thank you for sharing your
