Itinerary
Day 1
Our journey begins in Kingston, where we will arrange transfers for you upon arrival to Forres Park which will be your birding base for the first 3 nights in Jamaica. This is a nature resort/spa set within a 60-acre coffee plantation in the Blue Mountains. During your 3-night full board stay here, a packed breakfast and picnic lunch is included as well as a 3-course meal each evening.
Your stay will be in a Superior Room with King or Queen Sized bed, jacuzzi and an uninterrupted view of the Blue Mountains.
This bountiful plantation is quite a draw for both local birds and neotropical migrants. It’s located in the centre of the Blue Mountains where they grow the finest coffee in the world.
Day 2
Transfer to the Old Mine Trail, accompanied by a local bird guide. Afterwards lunch at Forres Park followed by some relaxed birding.
Day 3
Early morning departure for birding at approx. 5.30 am to Abbey Green with a local Bird Guide and packed breakfast and lunch. Return to Forres Park for dinner.
Day 4
Early morning departure for birding at between 5.00-6.30 (depending on time of year) to Hardwar Gap accompanied by a local Bird Guide. From here you will be transferred to Hotel Mocking Bird Hill in Port Antonio via Kingston and lunch at the Grogge Shop at Devon House. After enjoying a relaxing time in the gardens at Mocking Bird Hill there will be a 3-course evening meal at Mille Fleurs, the hotel’s award-winning restaurant, after which you can retire at your leisure to your Garden View Room.
Day 5
An early morning departure with packed breakfast and accompanied by a local Bird Guide to Ecclesdown, with optional trip to the Reach Falls for a cooling dip. Visit Winnifred Beach on return leg for lunch at the beachside before return to property to relax before dinner.
Day 6
Early morning birding within Hotel Mocking Bird’s extensive gardens, listed as one of the best places for birdwatching in Jamaica, followed by a full breakfast on the Mille Fleurs terrace. Transfer to rafting on the Rio Grande, with rustic, traditional lunch picnic on the riverside. Opportunity to visit market and stroll in Port Antonio on the way back or be driven to Frechman’s Cove beach.
Day 7
Breakfast at Mille Fleurs and early departure to Happy Grove, then revisit Ecclesdown but from south side with guide. Light lunch at local village “pub” followed by afternoon birding at the hotel.
Day 8
Leisurely morning at the hotel with lunch, before departing for Kingston
